-- Intrepid Variants --
( Models based upon the Intrepid-class starship, Voyager )
All three ships are built using the Hallmark USS Voyager Christmas ornament as the base component.  I've chosen to use the studio paint schemes for the Yeager and Elkins, as opposed to how the ships actually looked on-screen after lighting and special effects. I'm not yet sure how to paint the Intrebula, since it's not a "canon" ship, but I'm sure that it will be something of a mix between the Yeager and Elkins.  If you would like more detailed info on how I made any of these ships, click the Webmaster link at the bottom of the page and send me an e-mail.

USS Yeager NCC-65674
Quarter-rear shot of Yeager after a base coat of primer.

Finished.  What I used are the primary hull and nacelles from the Voyager ornament, and the Maquis Raider model from the Voyager 3-piece set.  The nacelles on the ornament are very blocky as can be seen in the comparison photo, so I used my dremel tool to grind them down to a more correct shape.

USS Elkins NCC-74121
Top view of the Elkins with primer.

The Elkins is made using parts from a few sources.  Besides the primary hull from the Voyager ornament, I also used the fuselage from a 1/144th scale F-14 Tomcat, the nacelle pylons from the Hallmark Runabout ornament, and nacelles from a Johnny Lightning Reliant.  This one will be completed next after the Yeager.

Name & registry not yet decided. Side shot of completed Intrebula with primer.

I saw a model something like this that someone had kit-bashed in 1/1400th scale, and I thought it would be a great addition to my fleet.  As a non-canon ship, I had a little more flexibility with the design.  It's basically a cut down version of the ornament, with a Connie re-fit nacelle pylon used to support the sensor pod, which is a piece from a Darth Maul toy ship.  I didn't bother grinding down the nacelles this time, and my back-story is that they are bulkier due to additional shielding to prevent distortion with the sensor pod readings.
